MetroLink will run for approximately 19 kilometres between Swords and Charlemont, with 16 new stations serving communities across north Dublin, Dublin Airport and the city centre.
The route will connect passengers with key destinations including Dublin Airport, Ballymun, Dublin City University (DCU), the Mater Hospital, the Rotunda Hospital and Dublin city centre. MetroLink will also integrate with the wider public transport network through connections to Irish Rail, DART, Luas and bus services.
Much of the route will run underground, providing a fast, reliable and fully segregated metro service that will help transform public transport across the Greater Dublin Area.

MetroLink stations are being designed to be accessible, safe and easy to use, while integrating with the communities they serve. Station locations have been carefully selected to provide convenient access to homes, workplaces, educational institutions, healthcare facilities and public transport connections across the Greater Dublin Area.
The station design concept has been developed by Grimshaw Architects and applied by IDOM, drawing on international experience in the design and delivery of modern metro systems. The aim is to create stations that are functional, welcoming and responsive to their surroundings, enhancing the public realm and providing a positive experience for passengers.
